NFL Draft 2025 Rumors: Jalen Milroe Told Team at Combine He'd Run a 4.3s 40-Yard Dash
Jalen Milroe's natural ability to use his legs became prevalent at Alabama as the quarterback often looked more like a running back when the pocket collapsed.
According to Milroe, he has the speed of a running back as well. Per The Athletic's Bruce Feldman, he told one coaching staff that he thinks he could run a 4.3-second 40-yard dash had he run at the combine.
Feldman noted that Milroe's decision not to run after boasting such speed confused the staff.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"The staff was curious why Milroe wouldn't run, because they told him, if he did run that, he'd wow scouts and might boost his stock by a round," Feldman wrote.
Had Milroe participated in the 40-yard dash and even come close to 4.3 seconds, he would have been the fastest quarterback by far. Just three QBs ran the 40-yard dash, and Missouri's Brady Cook had the fastest time at 4.59 seconds.
Alabama's Pro Day is scheduled for later in March. Perhaps Milroe will display his speed then.
Even if he isn't as fast as he thinks he is, Milroe is still one of the best quarterbacks in this year's draft class. His passing ability is a bit below average as he had just 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2024, but he's arguably the most mobile signal-caller in this year's class, finishing the season with 726 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.
Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department lists Milroe as the fifth-best quarterback in the 2025 draft class.
