Jets Rumors: Tim Patrick, Josh Palmer Expected to Interest NYJ in 2025 NFL Free Agency

Andrew PetersMar 3, 2025

The New York Jets reportedly have their eyes on a pair of free-agent receivers this offseason.

Per The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, New York is expected to consider wide receiver Tim Patrick, who spent the 2024 season playing on the same team as new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn with the Detroit Lions.

Additionally, Rosenblatt reported that the Jets are expected to target Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer.

Patrick, who began his career with the Denver Broncos but joined the Lions after missing the entirety of the 2022 and 2023 seasons due to injury, had a successful year in a crowded receiver room. He finished his first season since 2021 with 394 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Palmer has been a steady receiver option for the Chargers over the last four years. The 2021 third-round pick out of Tennessee has had 500 or more receiving yards since 2022, including this season when he went for 584 yards and a touchdown. He's also established himself as a deep threat, averaging 15 yards per catch in 2024.

At just 25 years old, Palmer could be a staple of the Jets offense for years to come.

What's more, New York could land both receivers at an affordable price and instead do its big spending on a quarterback if the Jets decide to sign one in free agency. Palmer and Patrick might not be game-changers, but they would compliment star receiver Garrett Wilson well as the Jets transition into the Glenn era.
