NFL Draft 2025 Rumors: Tyler Shough a 'Potential Riser' in QB Class after Combine
Much of the focus surrounding the quarterback position for the 2025 NFL draft has been on Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, but teams looking for secondary options reportedly could have their eye on Louisville's Tyler Shough.
ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Sunday that "Shough is a down-the-board quarterback name to watch as a potential riser ahead of the draft" in part because "scouts love his ability and instincts, and they point out that his injury history is more bad luck-related than chronic condition-related."
Shough suffered a broken collarbone and ankle at Texas Tech before transferring to Louisville, although he appeared in 12 games for the Cardinals last season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
However, there is a very real downside when it comes to his overall ceiling as a quarterback prospect. He was part of the 2018 recruiting class and bounced around from Oregon to Texas Tech to Louisville during a long college career, which means he will be 26 years old in September and close to 30 when his rookie contract runs out.
Teams looking for a mid- to low-round prospect who can be a multiyear project might be hesitant to use a selection on someone like Shough, who will be much older than some of the other options.
Still, he was impressive in his final collegiate season at Louisville while completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions and has apparently caught the eye of some scouts leading up to April's draft.
B/R's NFL Scouting Department did not rank him among the top 10 quarterbacks in its latest big board of prospects last month, although he will have an opportunity to play his way up the list at his pro day.
And all it takes is one team to see him as worthy of a mid-round pick to make the selection.
