49ers' Updated Roster, Salary Cap After Reported Deebo Samuel Trade with Commanders
The San Francisco 49ers have parted ways with Deebo Samuel after six seasons.
The Niners reportedly traded Samuel to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday night.
The 49ers are left with more than $31 million in dead cap space after the trade, according to Spotrac.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The 49ers saved $17.5 million from moving Samuel's contract and overall lost $15.1 million in cap space by the move.
Here's a look at the Niners' updated offensive depth chart without Samuel.
QB1: Brock Purdy
QB2: Joshua Dobbs
QB3: Brandon Allen
RB1: Christian McCaffrey
RB2: Jordan Mason
RB3: Isaac Guerendo
WR1: Brandon Aiyuk
WR2: Jauan Jennings
WR3: Ricky Pearsall
TE1: George Kittle
TE2: Eric Saubert
TE3: Brayden Willis
Joshua Dobbs, Brandon Allen and Eric Saubert are currently set to become unrestricted free agents, and Jordan Mason will be a restricted free agent, when their current contracts expire on March 12.
For now the Niners are on track to lean on Aiyuk and Jennings, who have both been extending, while giving more targets to 2024 first-round pick Pearsall.
This depth chart could change further in the near future if the 49ers are able to find a trade partner for Aiyuk.
Niners general manager John Lynch recently indicated the 49ers have been having conversations about potentially trading Aiyuk.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday night that trading Aiyuk would be "much harder" than dealing Samuel, both because of the ACL injury that limited him to seven games last season and the four-year, $120 million extension he agreed to last offseason.
Rapoport added it sounds like the 49ers would still consider putting together an Aiyuk trade, if possible, in order to offload some money.
The 49ers' moves this offseason come in light of Purdy's expiring contract. Kittle, who is also set to play the 2025 season on an expiring deal, could also be looking for an extension.
After taking on dead money in order to move Samuel, the Niners may need to find other ways to get money off the books before extending Purdy.
