Myles Garrett Trade Rumors: Eagles Viewed by NFL Insiders as Potential Landing Spot

Andrew PetersFeb 28, 2025

The Philadelphia Eagles' dominant defense could get even better this offseason.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman want to take a "big swing" this offseason, and that could mean attempting to trade for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

"I think they're going to make an effort here," Russini said on Scoop City. "But here's what some people are saying right now, that how he's willing to move on from some of these guys, because he's looking to make a big swing and take a big swing, and that big swing would be for Myles Garrett.

"So some of these guys that you think are a sure thing may not be sure things to return to Philly.”

Garrett, a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate, requested a trade from the Browns earlier this month after finishing his eighth season with the team. Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Garrett is "not open" to an extension with Cleveland.

Garrett had 47 tackles and 14 sacks last season, marking his fourth consecutive season with 14 or more sacks.

While it's still early in the offseason, Garrett seems open to the idea of playing for the Eagles, as he said Philadelphia would be "a hell of a destination" earlier this month.

Garrett also noted in his trade request that he has a "desire to win and compete on the biggest stages." Joining the defending champs would give him the chance to do that.

It's hard to envision just how dominant the Eagles defense could be with the addition of Garrett. They already had arguably the best defense in the league last season, allowing the fewest yards per game (278.4) and second-fewest points per game (17.8), making a mockery of the Kansas City Chiefs in a 40-22 Super Bowl victory.

Adding Garrett to the mix would only bolster Philadelphia's chances of winning another championship next year.
