The Turkey international, who was also a target for Premier League champions Chelsea, according toย Metro's Tom Olver, will not be able to play for his new club until January because of its current transfer ban. Barcelona cannot register players, but they can buy them.ย
On Tuesday,ย Spanish newspaperย ASย reported Barcelona was considering loaning Turan out to Galatasaray for six months so he could continue getting matches despite being ineligible.ย
AS reported Turan was one of two names requested by Barcelona manager Luis Enrique in May alongside former Sevilla wing-back Aleix Vidal, who arrived at the Camp Nou earlier this summer.

Turan's agent, Ahmed Bulut, revealed six clubs were interested in his client, with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and AC Milan supposedly in the hunt, perย Sky Sports.
The club's transfer ban was believed to complicate a potential deal, andย Sportย revealed some members of Barcelona's interim board had hoped to delay the move:
It now seems such action wasn't necessary, as the Blaugrana managed to bring Turan to the club despite the ban. Bet365 noted the transfer embargo really doesn't seem to be doing what it's supposed to do:
Turan will add depth and bite to a star-studded midfield, and while he'll have to wait for his chance to shine in the iconic Barcelona kit, fans likely couldn't be happier that he has already signed on the dotted line.
