Manchester United Transfer News: Robin Van Persie, Fernando Muslera Rumours
Reports that Robin van Persie will depart Manchester United have been played down by his agent, while the club have lined up Fernando Muslera as a replacement for David De Gea.
David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com reported Turkish club Fenerbahce are nearing a deal for Van Persie, while the Guardian's Jamie Jackson told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT: "Robin van Persie is for sale."
Kees Voss, the Dutchman's agent, was quick to quash talk of a move, however. Speaking to Voetbal International, Voss said (via David Kent of the Daily Mail): "If Robin had found a new club, we would have announced it. And I’m in the Netherlands right now. All I can say that tomorrow [Monday] Robin will simply report at Manchester United for the first training session."
Kent also reports "sources close to Van Persie insist that he wants to see out the remaining year of his contract at Old Trafford."
Van Persie endured a disappointing season at Old Trafford and has produced a diminishing return of goals and assists each year since he joined the Red Devils, per WhoScored.com.
Bleacher Report's own Sam Tighe believes Van Persie, who will be 32 next month, should be moved on this summer:
Because of his less incisive play and his contract entering its final year, United would be wise to cash in on the ageing forward while they have the chance, whether he's sold to Fenerbahce or elsewhere.
Jackson was not overly confident Fenerbahce would be the club he moves to, however. He said:
"With regard to the Fenerbahce story, let's just wait and see. It could be a timing thing. There could be money issues in and around that [deal].
Can they pay Van Persie what he's getting at United? It's nearly £250,000-a-week. Let's just see on that one.
"
Providing the Red Devils secure replacements for Radamel Falcao and Javier Hernandez, expect Van Persie to move on in search of regular football ahead of the 2016 European Championships.

One player who could be making the switch from Turkey to England is Uruguayan goalkeeper Muslera.
According to Turkish newspaper Vatan (via Jamie Sanderson for Metro) Louis van Gaal has made a £24.7 million bid for the stopper.

WhoScored's Emre Sarigul named Muslera as the key figure behind Galatasaray's title-winning campaign in the Turkish Super Lig last season, shining behind a porous defence.
According to the report, the 29-year-old averaged 3.2 saves per game and a save success of 74.8 per cent—the joint-highest in the league.
Sarigul notes the goalkeeper's strengths include his ability to deal with aerial balls and effective distribution.
The experienced stopper has all the attributes to make a fine replacement for De Gea should the Spaniard move on as expected.
Despite his key role in Galatasaray's team, a bid of that size is likely to be accepted by the Turkish champions. If De Gea leaves, expect Muslera to be wearing the No. 1 shirt at United next season.
