NFL Rumors: Trevor Lawrence, Steelers Trade Buzz 'Ridiculous'; 'No Chance' QB Is Moved
One Jacksonville Jaguars insider poured cold water on a rumor linking franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
ESPN's Michael DiRocco cited a source who said there's "no chance" the Jags would trade Lawrence and that the notion is "ridiculous."
Ryan Burr of Big Ten Network reported Thursday morning the Steelers had reached out to Jacksonville about making a deal.

That anybody would even believe the 2022 Pro Bowler is available is, if nothing else, a sign of how his first four years with the Jags haven't gone according to plan.
When Lawrence threw for 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns three seasons ago, it looked like he was turning the corner after going through the disaster that was the brief Urban Meyer era.
However, the 25-year-old hasn't really improved since then. His 204.5 passing yards per game in 2024 were a career low, while his passer rating (85.2) and QBR (59.5) were both pretty close to their 2022 equivalents.
Compounding the concern for Jacksonville, the five-year, $275 million extension Lawrence signed hasn't even kicked in yet. He's under contract through 2030, by which time his salary cap hit will exceed $70 million.
Still, trading the 2021 No. 1 overall pick wouldn't make a ton of sense now because his value is probably at its nadir. The Jaguars are unlikely to receive the kind of return that offsets the risk of him thriving on a new team and becoming an elite QB.
With that in mind, a theme during Liam Coen's introductory press conference was the franchise's continued belief in Lawrence.
"The No. 1 thing is the quarterback position," Khan told reporters at the time. "Our commitment to Trevor, I think it's well known and [we] believe in him. So, it started with that. That was the fundamental question, really, to all the candidates. How would they do it?"
Coen, meanwhile, made it abundantly clear he's building the offensive scheme around Lawrence.
The Jaguars have shown no indications they're preparing for anybody other than Lawrence to be their starting quarterback in 2025.
