New York Jets 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule | Fantasy Football Rankings

The New York Jets 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule

Last season the Jets had a record of 8-3 before Brett Favre hurt his shoulder and they took a nose dive. This season Favre is gone and the team has a new rookie quarterback starter in Mark Sanchez. If this team hopes to go to the post season they will need steady play from Sanchez this season.

Below are three sections of interest that are worth paying attention to for fantasy owners coming into the season for this team. First we have listed our fantasy players which we believe are worth paying attention to this season.

Next is strength of schedule against the run, pass and points against. Lastly we have a few games selected that will be key in telling how this team will preform for the 2009 season.

Fantasy Players

QB.- Mark Sanchez
RB.- Thomas Jones
RB.- Leon Washington
RB.- Shonn Greene
WR.-Jerricho Cotchery
WR.-Chansi Stuckey
TE.- Dustin Keller
D.- Jets

Strength of Schedule

vs Run Third Easiest Schedule

vs Pass 10th Hardest Schedule

vs Points Given Up Fifth Hardest Schedule

The Jets saving grace this season is that they have a very easy schedule to run against as that should greatly help Sanchez. With Jones, Washington and Greene, the Jets have a star studded lineup of running backs to go with one of the better offensive lines in football.

With a strong run game and a dominant defense this team should have a very good chance to make the post season in Sanchez's rookie year.

Games of Interest

Weeks One, Three, and 16: Right now I have the Patriots as the team winning the AFC East and as long as Tom Brady is healthy the Jets won't come close to winning the division.

With that being said the Jets will have to make it in as a wild card team and the AFC South present three teams that should give them a run for their money. The Jets happen to play all three of those teams this season as they play the Texans (week 10), the Titans (week three) and the Colts (week 16).

If the Jets are to make it to the post season it will be vitally important that they win these head to head matchups.

2009 Football Projection

In the end I believe the Jets schedule will be too much for this team to make it to the post season, with a rookie quarterback. Just as we saw in Sanchez's performance against the Ravens in the preseason, a rookie is going to go through his learning mistakes and that should cost this team in 2009.
