Chubb posted a brief message introducing himself to his new fanbase in Houston:

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chubb's deal has a base salary of $2.5 million and can be worth up to $5 million:

He became an unrestricted free agent this offseason after making $2.3 million in 2024.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday's episode of SportsCenter that there was mutual interest between Chubb and the Texans, and Rapoport reported that a deal between the two sides appeared to be imminent.

General manager Andrew Berry said after the 2025 NFL draft that it was "increasingly unlikely" that Chubb would return to Cleveland after the team drafted two running backs. The Browns selected Ohio State's Quinshon Judkins in the second round and Tennessee's Dylan Sampson in the fourth round.

The team posted a thank you message on social media on Monday:

Chubb was once regarded as one of the best running backs in the NFL, earning four straight Pro Bowl selections from 2019 to 2022. Unfortunately, he suffered a devastating knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign with a torn MCL and damage to his ACL.

After starting the 2024 season on the reserve/PUP list, he made his return to the field in Week 7 and appeared in eight games before suffering a broken foot in Week 15 that ended his season prematurely for the second straight year. He finished with 102 carries for 332 yards and three touchdowns while adding five catches for 31 yards and another score in eight games.

The Browns drafted Chubb with a second-round pick in 2018, and he immediately put his capabilities on full display. He rushed for 996 yards as a rookie before stringing together four straight 1,000-yard seasons. He ran for a career-high 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns on 302 carries in 2022.

Houston is hoping that Chubb will be able to return to his Pro Bowl form as he continues to work his way back to full health. He should benefit from sharing the backfield with Joe Mixon, who produced 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground in his first year with the Texans in 2024, adding 309 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

If both of them can stay healthy, Houston will have a strong chance to contend for a playoff spot in 2025.
