Jalen Hurts Injury Update, Eagles QB Provides Update and Reveals When He Suffered Calf Issue
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts confirmed he was dealing with a calf issue ahead of last Sunday's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, though he was still able to play.
Hurts provided the following update to reporters:
Through five games this season, Hurts has thrown for 933 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions, while completing just 57.8 percent of his passes. He's also rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown while leading the Eagles to a disappointing 2-3 record.
Hurts played 16 games in 2025 as the Eagles went 11-6 and won a second straight NFC East title. He threw for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 421 rushing yards and eight more scores. Philadelphia's quest for a second straight Super Bowl title quickly came to an end with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round.
After the disappointing end to the season, Hurts was the subject of a detailed report that revealed "growing frustration" from teammates and coaches. Star receiver A.J. Brown, who vocalized his discontent multiple times throughout the 2025 season, was traded to the New England Patriots this offseason.
If Hurts were to be sidelined going forward, Philadelphia backup quarterback Tanner McKee could be called upon to lead the offense until he's able to return. Rookie fifth-rounder Cole Payton is also on the roster.
