Aaron Jones is staying put this offseason.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the running back agreed to a new two-year, $20 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings after a strong first season with the team. The deal includes $13 million guaranteed.

Jones signed with the Vikings ahead of the 2024 season after the Green Bay Packers cut him, ending his seven-year stint with the team. His release from the Packers was mostly a financial decision, as he would have counted for $17.575 million against the salary cap and Green Bay wanted him to take a pay cut. Instead, he opted to find another squad and ended up with the Vikings.

Jones made the most of the one-year, $7 million contract Minnesota gave him, rushing for 1,138 yards and five touchdowns while adding 408 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air.

Jones' outstanding 2024 marked the fourth time he's rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season, as he did so in 2019, 2020, and 2022. In 2019, Jones also had a career-high 16 rushing touchdowns.

Behind a strong season from Jones and a breakout year for quarterback Sam Darnold, the Vikings finished 14-3 last season, marking their most wins in a season since 1998. Their magical year ended early in the playoffs as they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round.

The Vikings have plenty to address this offseason, namely at quarterback since Darnold is reportedly expected not to return in free agency, but they'll at least have a familiar face in the backfield as Jones looks to build off of an exceptional year.
