Adrian Peterson to Be Inducted Into Vikings' Ring of Honor vs. Bills During 2026 NFL Season

The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they are inducting legendary running back Adrian Peterson into their Ring of Honor during the 2026 NFL season.

Peterson's induction will take place during the Vikings' Monday Night Football home game against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 9.

During his tenure with the Vikings, Peterson was arguably the most dominant running back in football. In addition to being named a Pro Bowler seven times and a First Team All-Pro on four occasions, he won the NFL MVP award in 2012.

That year, he bounced back from a torn ACL to rush for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns. That yardage total left him just eight yards short of Eric Dickerson's single-season record.

Over his 10-year run in Minnesota from 2007 to 2016, the 2007 No. 7 overall draft pick out of Oklahoma rushed for 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns, which are both all-time Vikings records.

Despite never having a great quarterback during Peterson's tenure aside from a brief stint with Brett Favre, the Vikings made the playoffs on four occasions with AD leading the way.

After leaving the Vikings, Peterson played for five more seasons from 2017 to 2021 with the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks.

With career numbers of 14,918 rushing yards, 120 rushing touchdowns, 2,474 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns, all signs point to Peterson taking his rightful spot in Canton, Ohio, as a Pro Football Hall of Famer when eligible next year.
