49ers' Brock Purdy Uncertain for NFL Week 2 vs. Saints amid Shoulder, Toe Injuries
After a mostly healthy 2024 season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's status is in question heading into Week 2.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Purdy is "uncertain" for the Niners' contest against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday because of a left shoulder and toe injury he sustained against the Seattle Seahawks.
Per ESPN's Nick Wagoner, head coach Kyle Shanahan said "we'll see" about Purdy playing on Sunday.

The injury comes after the 49ers' 17-13 win over the Seahawks on Sunday. Purdy threw for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win, but also threw two interceptions.
If Purdy is sidelined this week, the 49ers will turn to backup quarterback Mac Jones, who joined the team this offseason.
Purdy had a tremendous season in 2023, throwing for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while leading the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance.
The big second season had fans expecting another leap in 2024, but he didn't exactly have the year he hoped for. In 15 games, he threw for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as San Francisco finished 6-11, missing the playoffs.
In Purdy's defense, he was without a few of his top targets as star receiver Brandon Aiyuk played just seven games before a season-ending torn ACL, and running back Christian McCaffrey played just four games due to a handful of ailments.
Purdy missed the 49ers' Week 11 game due to a shoulder injury before sitting out of San Francisco's season-finale against the Arizona Cardinals because of an elbow injury he suffered against the Detroit Lions.
Luckily for Purdy and the Niners, he avoided a long-term injury in his elbow, but it was enough to end his season prematurely.
After taking a step back in 2024, Purdy is hoping to put together a strong season in 2025 and get back to Super Bowl form. He should have plenty of personal motivation after receiving a five-year, $265 million contract during the offseason.
