Ilkay Gundogan, Borussia Dortmund Agree to New Contract: Details, Reaction
Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until 2017.
His previous contract had just a year left to run, and his supposed refusal to sign a new one had led to suggestions he would leave Signal Iduna Park this summer to join United or Paris Saint-Germain, per talkSPORT.
However, the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday that 24-year-old Gundogan had put pen to paper on a new deal with Dortmund:

On signing the new deal, Gundogan expressed his relief that his future at Dortmund had finally been cleared up, per the club's website (h/t Goal): "I am glad that we finally have clarity [on my future] and I can continue playing for Borussia Dortmund. I am now fully focused on preparations for the new season."
The midfielder struggled for form last season as he looked to return to fitness following a long-term injury. Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell believes that the new deal will give Gundogan the chance to return to his best form, and he will then perhaps be sold on next summer:
Dortmund will no doubt be happy to have tied the German down for another year. When at his best, Gundogan can be a devastating force in the middle of the park.
