John McCain Bravely Fails to Catch Falling Foul Ball at Diamondbacks Game

I'll say one thing: John McCain gave it a whirl, guys.

The 78-year-old Arizona senator did what he could when a Jimmy Rollins foul ball bounced off a wall at Chase Field on Tuesday night and began falling directly toward his head.

Despite his limited mobility, McCain remained calm and went for the old-fashioned basket catch as the ball dropped into his lap. 

The catch wasn't perfect, but as you'll see in this photo by Dodgers photographer Jon SooHoo (h/t SB Nation's Eric Stephen), it was a sublime moment in foul ball history:
