Regardless, that fire from being snubbed by Klinsmann for a spot on the United States 2014 World Cup squad still burns inside the Yanks' all-time leading goalscorer.

In the aftermath of the United States women clinching their spot in the Women's World Cup final on Tuesday night, Donovan sent out a tweet praising Abby Wambach's veteran presence—the exact thing most people expected Donovan to provide in Brazil.

In the past, he showed he was able to take the snubbing in good stride.
