The United States were spared in their Women's World Cup semi-final match against Germany, as Celia Sasic sent her penalty attempt wide to the left in the second half.
Germany were awarded a penalty after Julie Johnson committed a foul inside the box.
Sasic, the tournament's top scorer, sent American goalkeeper Hope Solo the wrong way but couldn't put her shot on target.

American star Alex Morgan was relieved in the aftermath.
Of course, it queued a round of jokes given the Germans' historical success in converting from the penalty spot.
