The Columbus Blue Jackets announced the completion of a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday for left winger Brandon Saad.

In return, the Blackhawks received forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft, according to the team's official release

Saad, 22, completed his second season in the NHL in which he played in 75 games or more in 2014-15. He recorded career highs with 23 goals, 29 assists and 52 points as a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks.

Saad is a restricted free agent and, according to SportsNet's Chris Johnston, was set to gain plenty of interest on July 1 when free agency begins.

The Blackhawks' release also stated that the Blue Jackets received Alex Broadhurst and Michael Paliotta.

Anisimov recorded 27 points in 52 games last season as the most experienced of the bunch that the Blackhawks are acquiring. He made his NHL debut in 2008 with the New York Rangers before joining the Blue Jackets in 2012.

Morin played in parts of five season for the Blackhawks before they dealt him to the Blue Jackets last season. He appeared in 28 games for Columbus.

Tropp appeared in 61 games last season for Columbus, recording one goal and seven assists. Dano, a 20-year-old center, scored eight goals and added 13 assists in 35 games for the Blue Jackets in his first NHL season.

Columbus, a team mired by injuries last season, made a late push for the playoffs, going 15-1-1 in its final 17 games, but finished in 11th in the Eastern Conference. With a full, healthy roster next season and the addition of Saad, the Blue Jackets will be in the running for a higher-seeded playoff spot.
