Luciano Vietto to Atletico Madrid: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More

Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto has officially signed for Atletico Madrid on a six-year deal.  

The move for the 21-year-old was confirmed by Atletico on their official Twitter feed on Thursday.

The youngster enjoyed a highly encouraging debut season in La Liga, and he will make an excellent long-term acquisition for Atletico.

Vietto scored 12 goals and had two assists in 17 league starts as he helped Villarreal to sixth place last season, per WhoScored.com.

Per WhoScored.com, despite the Yellow Submarine exiting the Europa League in the round of 16 at the hands of eventual winners Sevilla, Vietto still managed to have a significant impact on the tournament:

Even more impressively, that figure does not include the two goals Vietto scored in the Europa League qualifying phase.

The Argentinian enjoys a strong relationship with Atletico head coach Diego Simeone, who handed him his first appearance at Racing Club in 2011.
