US Senior Open of Golf 2015: Leaderboard Scores and Highlights from Saturday

Joe PantornoJun 27, 2015

There was more movement among the leaderboard at Round 3 of the U.S. Senior Open from Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California, on Saturday.

Friday's co-leader Tom Watson has dropped, while the slow-starting Bernhard Langer has shot up to the top, as a number of golfers are still in the hunt for the title.

Continue for the updated leaderboard after Saturday's play and highlights from some of the third round's top performers.

Langer has a share of the lead after Saturday's round with a five-under overall. After starting the tournament at one over par, he went four under par on Friday and two under par on Saturday.

Staying even on the first nine holes, Langer recorded three consecutive birdies from holes 11 to 13 to take the lead. A bogey on No. 18 joined Langer with one of Friday's co-leaders, Jeff Maggert. Fox Sports caught the moment just before Langer's putt dropped into the 13th hole for birdie:

Maggert shot a five-under 65 on Friday to enter the third round with a share of the lead. While his counterparts dropped, he went even on Saturday, canceling out two early bogeys by shooting three under par on the remaining 12 holes.

He had a one-stroke lead on his way to the 18th, but a bogey on the final hole dropped him to a tie with Langer.

Maggert is looking for his second win of the season after coming in first at the Regions Tradition in May.

Entering Saturday, Kenny Perry was seven strokes back of the lead. After shooting a six-under 64 in Round 3, he is just one stroke back of Maggert and Langer at three under overall.

Perry was electric starting on the back nine, shooting a six-under 28. A birdie on No. 5 had him at seven under on the day and gave him a share of the lead. The U.S. Open's Twitter took a look at that fifth hole:

A bogey on the eighth hole proved to be the only blemish of his day, dropping him into a tie for third.

Woody Austin had a share of the lead at six under after a birdie on No. 12, but bogeys on No. 13 and No. 17 dropped him to four under and a tie for third as well. The U.S. Open Twitter shows Austin calmly sinking his birdie putt:

One of Friday's leaders, Watson shot one over par after a tough four-hole stretch saw him bogey three of them to go two over on the day. He had a clean back nine, going one under with a birdie on No. 11. He is one of eight golfers who are tied for third at four under.

The other co-leader from Friday, Peter Fowler, shot a two-over to sit in a tie for 11th at three under par.

Fowler had two bogeys apiece on the front and back nine. His bogeys on the back came consecutively on Nos. 15 and 16 before a birdie on No. 18 moved him back up.

It looks like this tournament is not about consistency but who will get hot at the right time. Langer has managed to shake off a rocky start and show improvement, so look for him to stay toward the top of the leaderboard. Still, if Perry can replicate the magic he exuded on his first nine holes, he will prove unstoppable on his way to the title.
