Ole Miss responded to the NCAA inquiry, issuing a statement on the situation, via Blevins:
Blevins also reported NCAA officials were in Mississippi on July 3 and interviewed Miller after allegations the altercation was a result of Miller warning Tunsil about contact with player agents.
Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com first reported the news of Tunsil's arrest on June 27. A source told the outlet that Laremy punched Miller after he shoved his mother, Desiree Tunsil. Laremy and his mother have since pressed charges against Miller as well.
McMurphy's report also included a statement from Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze:
"We can confirm that Laremy Tunsil turned himself in and was arrested for a misdemeanor, domestic violence-simple assault. The incident occurred Thursday night and involves Laremy defending his mother against his stepfather.
Laremy realizes he could have handled it differently, but I am proud of him for standing up for his mother and protecting his family. Laremy and his mother have also pressed charges against the stepfather. As we gather more facts, we will act and make decisions accordingly.
"
On June 30, Blevins reported the lineman's stepfather told police Tunsil was "riding around with football agents" at the time of the incident.
Tunsil, 20, has long been regarded as a high-upside prospect. He was the No. 4 recruit in the nation for the 2013 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings, and he remains firmly on NFL radars as he enters his junior campaign.
