Twitter Reacts as Petr Cech Officially Joins Arsenal

Arsenal and Chelsea fans have had a week to process the prospect of Petr Cech moving from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates, but the £10 million deal was formally rubber stamped on Monday (as per the BBC) and, of course, made truly official when the prized goalkeeper changed his Twitter background picture...

Rather than warm the bench of the reigning champions, the Czech shot stopper has made a controversial move across town, where he will presumably be the first-choice option between the sticks. It's a decision that was clearly not taken lightly, as proven by the touching open letter he published on the official Chelsea website...

The move sent Arsenal fans on Twitter into a state of pleasure only previously witnessed in Bart Simpson...

Several of Cech's new colleagues tweeted welcoming messages, too...

Theo Walcott even managed to extract some top-level "bantz" with his welcome tweet...

In addition to celebrating their new addition, Gunners fans were quick off the draw to point the finger of fun at their blue-shirted London rivals...

Chelsea fans, however, were only too happy to reciprocate the mockery...

In spite of his heartfelt open letter and the infeasibility of remaining a substitute, many Blues fans chose to vent their anger at Cech, labelling him a "traitor" and a "snake"... 

Some even went as far as burning their shirts/spare tyres... 

Among the anger, however, there were some appreciative Blues supporters...

Arsenal's new arrival has certainly divided Chelsea fans, but it may have also created mixed feelings among certain members of the Gunners staff...

Roberto Firmino's spoof account, meanwhile, suggests the Brazilian needs to work on his Premier League knowledge...
