Just two years after high school, Madison Bumgarner begins his Major League career tonight against the San Diego Padres, hoping to be more like the man he is replacing (Tim Lincecum, sore back) then the man who he is opposing (Kevin Correia, former Giants prospect). Bumgarner was scheduled to pitch for Double-A Connecticut in the playoffs, but will instead pitch in the race for the Wild Wild West.

Tim Lincecum, on the other hand, has a sore back, and should be fine in a couple of days. He might even pitch on Friday vs the Dodgers.

The Giants begin play two games back in the wild card race.
