St. Louis Not Returning to New York
Friday, June 26
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, St. Louis isn't going to retire and could have mutual interest from two Eastern Conference teams:
St. Louis was traded to the New York Rangers in March 2014, appearing in 93 games and recording 60 points. He did struggle in this year's playoffs with just one goal and seven points in 19 games.
The 40-year-old used to be one of the most dominant offensive players in the league, scoring over 100 points in 2006-07 and winning the Hart Trophy in 2003-04 in helping to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to the franchise's only Stanley Cup title to date.
As age has caught up with St. Louis, his performance has declined. He's not a top-tier winger at this point in his career, but there's enough left in the tank that he could be a good presence on a team in search of scoring depth.
