B/R's Tag Team Tournament Round 1, Part 1

Jessy MorrisSep 8, 2009

Through the years, pro wrestling has featured some great tag teams.

Whether they were teams from ECW, WCW, TNA, or the WWE wasn't important, because they were all special in their own way.

I had been planning on doing a Top 10 of wrestling's greatest tag teams but instead decided to create a tournament between 32 tag teams from past and present and you would decide who's the greatest.

Featured here are 32 of the greatest tag teams in history. They will compete in a tournament every week and you will decide who advances and who gets eliminated.

I tried to pick the best possible teams from the from the past 20 years from any organization.

One superstar can only appear for one team, which means that Miz/Morrison and MNM can't both compete in the tournament since John Morrison would appear twice.

With that said, let's get started with the first part of round one. Please leave your votes in the comment section.

Thank You.

The Hardy Boys vs. The Rockers

Matt and Jeff Hardy are without a doubt one of the most popular tag teams in wrestling history. They have captured the imagination of many fans with their high flying style, heart and dedication.

Although they are not the biggest or strongest, they are willing to put their bodies on the line just to win the match, and that makes them a force to be reckoned with.

Before being a proud member of DX, Shawn Michaels was one half of the Rockers with Marty Jannetty. Making their debut at the end of the 1980's in the WWE, nobody had seen anything like them before.

They were flashy, fast and good looking and were often referred to as "Tag Team Specialists." No other tag team could move like they did in a ring back at the time.

Who would win?

The Hart Foundation vs. The Hart Dynasty

Back in the 80's, there was not many teams better then Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart. They had chemistry like no other in that ring.

Bret was the technician of the team while "The Anvil" was the brute strength. There was no better time to fear the pink and black attack then when fighting against these two.

In recent months, the tag team of Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith have been making waves in the WWE.

Both have been trained by the likes of Davey Boy Smith, Bret Hart, and Stu Hart. Both young men have a lot of talent and will continue to grow in the tag team division.

Who wins?

Cryme Tyme vs. The Latin American Exchange

Shad and JTG are one of the most popular tag teams right now. Their funny promos and attitudes have made them crowd favorites right away.

JTG is the speed and agility while Shad is the size and power of the team. But don't let their funny side fool you, they can get the job done in the ring when it comes to competition.

Homicide and Hernandez formed one of TNA's best tag teams. They represent the TNA version of Cryme Tyme and have proved to be no joke in the ring.

Like Cryme Tyme, Homicide represents the speed and big Hernandez the power.

Who would win this one?

Harlem Heat vs. The Steiner Brothers

Like them or hate them, Harlem Heat was one of the most dominant tag teams in WCW history. Together, Booker T. and Stevie Ray had a mix of size, speed, and agility and also had Sherri in their corner for support.'

During their time, it is safe to say that Harlem Heat fought and defeated every tag team that was put in their way.

Rick and Scott Steiner were arguably the greatest brother tag team of the 90's. They dominated the ranks in both the WWE and WCW organizations and also made quite an impact in Japan.

They used a variety of powerslams and suplexes against their opponents and nobody seemed to do it better.

Who wins?

Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. Lethal Consequences

When two high-flyers like Paul London and Brian Kendrick join forces, you know it will make for an entertaining tag team.

Agility and speed was the way to go for them since most teams were much bigger. London and Kendrick were heavy underdogs each time they wrestled, but came out on top most of the time.

Lethal Consequences is one of TNA's young, up and coming tag teams. The chemistry between these two men is great and they seem to improve with time.

Still under 25 years old, Lethal and Creed haven't even reached their prime yet and should make an even bigger impact on the roster with time.

Who advances?

The Colons vs. The Motor City Machineguns

Carlito came to the WWE and made an immediate impact becoming U.S. champion. When his little brother Primo came to the WWE, both men became a tag team and fired up the ranks in the WWE. Using high-flying moves, The Colons soon became fan favorites in the organization.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are two of the best high-flyers in TNA today. As a tag team, they are simply phenomenal.

The double team moves these two men put to use are some of the most interesting in wrestling history. Not since the Rockers back in the 80's, has a tag team worked so well in wrestling.

Who wins here?

The British Bulldogs vs. The British Invasion

The British Bulldogs were very popular back in the 80's. Davey Boy Smith was a powerhouse and the Dynamite Kid was one of the most technical superstars of his time. Evan if they didn't get along outside the ring, they worked great together inside of it.

The British Invasion composed of Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams didn't make any allies when they first came to TNA. They are arrogant, cocky but they back it up even if it means having help from Rob Terry. As time goes by, it will be interesting to see if they can continue their run.

Which English tag team advances?

Legacy vs. La Resistance

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. are second-generation superstars and one of the hottest tag teams in WWE today.

With the guidance of Randy Orton, Legacy is getting better with each match. The thing with them is, they haven't reached their prime yet and the best years are ahead of them.

Sylvain Grenier and Robert Conway were one of the most hated tag teams in WWE when they made their debut. The team was arrogant, but they were good and they backed it up in the ring.

They used brains to stay one step ahead of their rivals and sometimes cheated, but they did anything to get their hands raised.

Who wins?

So there we have it. Part one of the first round is over. We have already gone through 16 of the best tag teams. Now it's your job to vote and eliminate eight of them before next week.
