Eagles: 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule | Fantasy Football Rankings

The Philadelphia Eagles 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule

The Eagles offseason this year can only be rivaled by the Broncos for one of the wilder stories in the offseason. First the team rebuilt it's offensive line then Brian Westbrook went down with ankle surgery.

After that the Eagles great defensive coordinator Jim Johnson passed away from cancer and weeks later the team signed Michael Vick.

For all these ups and downs, if this team should go back to the playoffs it will come down to playing respectable defense, after so much turnover.

Below are three sections of interest that are worth paying attention to for fantasy owners coming into the season for this team. First we have listed our fantasy players which we believe are worth paying attention to this season.

Next is strength of schedule against the run, pass and points against. Lastly we have a few games selected that will be key in telling how this team will preform for the 2009 season.

WR.-Kevin Curtis
TE.- Brent Celek

D.-   Eagles

Strength of Schedule

vs. Run 13th Hardest Schedule

vs. Pass 11th Hardest Schedule

vs. Points Given Up 14th Hardest Schedule

The Eagles offense is very strong and as long as their starting lineman can stay on the field this team should have plenty of success in 2009. Second-year receiver DeSean Jackson looks primed to be the team's No.1 receiver, and rookie running back LeSean McCoy should make for a very capable backup to Westbrook.

While the team will score early and often this year, the defense should be hurting from the key losses of Brian Dawkins, Stewart Bradley and coordinator Johnson.

One thing this defense has going for them is they are still running the same defense as in year's past. If they can play sound fundamental football than the Eagles can win the division.

Games of Interest

Weeks One and Two: In the first two games of the season we will see how the Eagles defense responds to the run and the pass. In week one the Eagles will be on the road in Carolina as they face off against DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

Week Two the Eagles will face off at home against Drew Brees and the Saints great passing game.

If this defense can stand up to the test against these teams than they should be more than fine for this season. But if they should struggle in either game, fantasy owners might want to take note.

2009 Football Projection

In such a hard division the separation in being the best and worst is a thin line. Every team in this division has flaws to overcome and the teams that will be standing on top are the organization that overcome these issues.

Looks like it will be another interesting season once again in the NFC East.
