Understandably, the Kop faithful were overjoyed at the news, as well as the rapid manner in which business is being conducted by the club.

After swiping reported Manchester United target Firmino from under United's noses, Reds fans were given yet another opportunity to rub salt in the wounds of their fiercest rival.
Some United fans were baffled by Clyne's move to Merseyside.
Most United fans, however, were eager to remind Liverpool of their lack of Champions League football and the quality the Red Devils already possess.
"I thought Clyne wanted to play for a team in the champions league , obviously no top 4 teams were interested ...

It is not yet clear why Clyne may have chosen Liverpool, but Jamie Carragher appeared to take the credit for tapping him up.
Naturally, there were plenty of jokes about the Brendan Rodgers' predilection for shopping on the south coast...
Presumably, Liverpool's discount offered a stunning reduction on retail value, as many Twitter users failed to understand why he was so much cheaper than a certain other former Southampton full-back.
"WHY are Southampton letting Clyne go for £12.5 million?

There also seemed some confusion regarding Tottenham Hotspur's move for Kieran Trippier—and the missed opportunity to bring in a player firmly within their price range.
All signs suggest Clyne will be a Liverpool player at the start of the 2015-16 season. Apparently, he won't have to work too hard to surpass the chap who used to do his job.
"Replacing Johnson with Clyne. What a time to be alive.
