Latest NHL Draft Rumors
Arizona Coyotes Considering Trading No. 3 Pick

After finishing with the second-worst record in the NHL this past season, the Arizona Coyotes caught a tough break as they ended up with the No. 3 pick in the lottery. That means they will miss out on both McDavid and Eichel—although they still have an opportunity to come away with some valuable assets.
According to Sarah McLellan of AZCentral.com, Coyotes general manager Don Maloney has fielded many calls from teams interested in acquiring Arizona's first-round pick:
The Coyotes have likely been offered an intriguing mix of picks, players and prospects, but the most interesting offer of all was laid out by Craig Custance of ESPN The Magazine:
Arizona is a team that needs to load up on young talent, so the notion of trading the No. 3 overall pick without getting another draft choice in return is quite surprising. If the player described by Custance is both young and NHL-ready, though, it could be worth the gamble.
The Coyotes will have a shot at prospects such as Hanifin, Marner, Strome, Ivan Provorov and a host of others at No. 3. While any or all of them could become stars, they all have shortcomings that could prevent them from reaching their potentials—unlike McDavid and Eichel.
While Arizona already has some good, young talent in its system, it is at least a few years away from competing for a playoff spot in the stacked Western Conference.
Trading the No. 3 pick for an already established player could help speed up the rebuilding process for the Coyotes, but if the player they acquire doesn't pan out, then their miserable 2014-15 campaign will have been all for naught.
Maple Leafs Targeting Defenseman at No. 4?

Like the Coyotes, the Toronto Maple Leafs weren't fortunate enough to land a top-two pick in the 2015 NHL draft. However, it appears as though the organization is honed in on what it wants to do with the fourth overall selection.
According to Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun, new head coach Mike Babcock would prefer to select a defenseman with the team's first of two picks in the opening round.
One can only assume that Hanifin is the primary target—although it is possible that he won't be on the board since Arizona or whichever team picks third could take him. Provided Hanifin is gone and the Leafs are still locked in on the blue line, Provorov and American Zach Werenski will become possibilities.
Per Koshan, an agent suggested that any of the top three defensemen in the draft would be a good fit for what Babcock likes to do on the ice:
"Puck-moving guys who can skate—one of those top three defensemen would bring that ability to Toronto," the agent said. "Babcock loves those kind of players."
According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, though, Hanifin is the true prize at his position:
The Maple Leafs have needs at multiple positions, so they would be wise to embrace flexibility and pick based upon what is available to them rather than reach for someone who may not be worth the fourth overall selection.
Toronto needs to hit a home run with this pick since it is the first of the Babcock era, and landing Hanifin could lead to the desired result—provided he is as good as advertised.
Canucks Reportedly Seeking Second-Round Pick for Lack
There promises to be a great deal of goalie movement over the course of the offseason, and one of the biggest chips who could potentially fall is Vancouver Canucks netminder Eddie Lack.
The 27-year-old goaltender from Sweden enjoyed a strong 2014-15 season, as he went 18-13-4 with a 2.45 goals-against average and .921 save percentage while splitting time with Ryan Miller. Despite Lack's solid numbers, though, he could be on the move since Miller and Jacob Markstrom are standing in his way.

According to Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Canucks are hoping to get a second-round pick in return for Lack.
Per TSN's Aaron Ward, the Buffalo Sabres, who have the No. 31 and No. 51 overall selections in the draft, are particularly interested in acquiring the Canucks goalie.
Buffalo traded both Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth prior to the trade deadline this past season, while Anders Lindback, who took over for them, is now a free agent. The only NHL goalie currently under contract is Chad Johnson, so there is no question that the Sabres are in desperate need of a goaltender.
Since they have a pair of first-rounders, two second-rounders and an already deep system of prospects, Buffalo can certainly afford to part with a pick for an up-and-coming goalie in his prime.
The Sabres may have some competition for Lack's services, but it looks like the Canucks should be able to ship him out of town for a pick regardless of who ultimately puts together the best offer.
