Radja Nainggolan to Roma: Latest Transfer Details, Comments and Reaction

Roma have finalised a deal to buy the remaining half of Radja Nainggolan’s contract from Cagliari, meaning the Belgian midfielder is now officially a Giallorossi player.  

The Serie A side posted the news on their official website on Wednesday evening, confirming a €9 million agreement had been reached. Nainggolan took to Twitter (in Italian) to express his delight at becoming a Roma player, which was translated by Football-Italia: "This is a fantastic day, finally I am 100 per cent Giallorosso. It’s what I and the club always wanted! I thank the club and Pallotta for their efforts. I will repay them on the field as I have done so far and even more! Forza Roma! Now our minds focus on to the next season!"

The aforementioned piece also claims that the fee for the dynamic midfielder is more likely closer to €14 million, with performance incentives and Roma paying extra to Cagliari for the loan of forward Victor Ibarbo also factoring in.

Since joining Roma, Nainggolan has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. With Kevin Strootman struck by various injury problems, the Belgian has emerged as a driving force at the nexus of the Roma side and has become one of the most tenacious tacklers in European football.

There have been some reports linking the midfielder with a move away from the Italian top flight to Real Madrid recently, per IlSussidiario.net (via Joe Ridge of the MailOnline). But confirmation he is now officially a Roma player should put an end to the speculation, and the Giallorossi faithful can look forward to having Nainggolan’s rumbustious influence at the heart of their side again next season.
