PGA Tour Kicked to the Curb by Football's Popularity?

Tom EdringtonSep 8, 2009

Don't know about you but is there anyone who doesn't believe that once football makes its return, the PGA Tour totally takes a hit?

As good as the word "playoffs" sound when its bantered about these next few weeks, football is oh so very more the reason to turn on the tube, or plasma, or whatever they're made of.

Pardon me if you will, but does anyone get excited talking about "who's on the bubble" to move on in the playoffs?

College football comes in with a flurry and come Sunday, the NFL returns.

Is there any reason at all, Tiger Woods included, to watch some golf on television?

The belief here is that the tour becomes commercial fodder. Switch over and check out the boys when there's a time-out on the field!

Time it perfectly and you won't miss that crucial third-and-two.

Anyone out there who didn't think Steve Stricker would birdie the final hole Sunday and win the Deutsche Bank?

You gotta hate it when Tiger's so far back that a 63 by El Tigre is shown basically by replay.

Anyone out there think that even the guys playing in these tour playoffs are wondering how their football teams are doing?

Yes, it's the annual rite of fall. And try as hard as it wants, the PGA Tour will simply get kicked to the curb and become football commercial fodder.

After all, does anyone really, totally and undeniably care who wins the FedEx Cup?

Now what's the spread on the Dallas-Tampa Bay game?
