Arda Turan Transfer to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid Confirmed

The club announced Arda Turan as a Barcelona player on Monday, confirming the transfer via its Twitter account:

The announcement came after Turan's agent, Ahmet Bulut, confirmed the player's departure, per Ozgur Sancar of AS.com, saying that he would depart Los Colchoneros for a new club this summer.

The deal is the final twist in the saga after Jorge Garcia and Ozgur Sancar of AS revealed on July 3 that Manchester United had a deal in place, while Chelsea were Turan's "preferred option."

But Barcelona have not been far from speculation all summer. David Salinas of Sport reported on July 2: "It will be some time after July 18, the date that the socios will vote for a new president, when everything will be finalised and Arda Turan, until now an Atletico Madrid player, will be presented as a Barca player."

Turan featured 42 times in La Liga and the Champions League last season but only notched three goals and six assists, per WhoScored.com. 

He is in his prime, and most of Europe's elite clubs would appreciate his energy and skill. He has the ability to play on either side of midfield or as a No. 10, and the pace of the Premier League would suit his style.
