Johan Franzen took to the ice for the first time in two weeks when he suited up for the Red Wings Friday morning practice, but, when he’ll be cleared for action is still up in the air.

Skating on a line with center Mark Hartigan and resident tough guy, Aaron Downey, Franzen commented on his current status. "I'm not playing tomorrow, and I'm doing more checkups tomorrow and just waiting for the doctor to clear me," Franzen said this afternoon. "I'm feeling good."

Chris Chelios, who’s currently nursing a leg injury is also expected to be sidelined for game 1.  Andreas Lilja will take his place alongside Brent Lebda.
