Labor Day News Blurbs

• Jason Quick is reporting that Blazers rookie Jeff Pendergraph will be undergoing hip surgery this Wednesday. This doesn't mean that the team won't sign him to a contract, but he will most likely be out for most of the season. Bummer of a start for the former Sun Devil.
• Rudy-less Spain was upset in its first game of the Eurobasket 09 tourney by Serbia, 66-57. Spain struggled from the start without Rudy, who has been out with a minor hamstring injury. Pau Gasol, Ricky Rubio, and Juan Carlos Navarro all struggled against the Nenad Krstic-led Serbian team. Blazers draftee Victor Claver was scoreless in seven minutes of action. Spain hopes to have Rudy back soon.
• Jason Quick will be providing coverage to 95.5 The Game this season. Last year, Quick had a deal with 1080 the Fan as its exclusive Blazer insider. The Fan (1080) needs to step it up. They've been taking quite a beating from 95.5 this year from what I've been hearing.
• Make sure you take the fam to this year's MAIZE at the Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie's Island. Each year the corn maze has a different design/theme with this year's being a Blazers theme, helping to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise.
