Twitter Reacts as Petr Cech Reportedly Leaves Chelsea for Arsenal
There's only so long that a world-class goalkeeper such as Petr Cech can keep a bench warm, which is why the Czech shot-stopper has been linked with a potential move across town to Arsenal for several weeks. On Monday afternoon, the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea's former No. 1 had formally made the move:

Despite any official confirmation, the reported deal provoked a great deal of discussion on Twitter, with Gunners fans wasting no time in showing their delight—and in poking fun at the Premier League champions:
"Wooo Petr Cech's definitely a great signing man!

Apparently, the situation also pleased Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger:

Wenger's Chelsea counterpart, however, wasn't shown to be quite so delighted...
Since Cesc Fabregas spurned a return to the Emirates in favour of Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans have sung an anti-Arsenal "magic hat" song (NSFW sample here). Arsenal fans immediately took the opportunity to turn the tables, with Cech's head guard giving the analogy a helpful boost:
"OOOHHH PETR CECH IS MAGIC, HE WEARS A MAGIC HAT, HE COULD'VE STAYED AT CHELSEA BUT HE SAID I NEED TO PLAY FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL.
— Sid. (@VaraneBhaat) June 22, 2015"
Understandably, plenty of Chelsea fans were unhappy with the situation:
"Best of luck @PetrCech . You'll always be one of us. #CFC #KTBFFH pic.twitter.com/wlWLrsDzFa

"Goodbye @PetrCech pic.twitter.com/6J1dNrf0OJ

However, to their credit, many Blues supporters wished Cech well in his new endeavour:
"Goodbye Petr Cech. Thank you for the memories. There's no shame in stepping down in class to keep on playing. pic.twitter.com/TsjIehnN95

"Though I'm not happy, I could never hate @PetrCech & Frank Lampard after everything they've done for this club. Legends

The move inspired some top-drawer banter and memes:
"Why Arsenal wanted Petr Cech so badly... https://t.co/ZUeJapSJwc
— Football Vines (@FootballVines) June 22, 2015"
Many were also quick to recirculate Chelsea captain John Terry's comments about the potential effect of having Cech between the sticks:
One man who may not be particularly happy about Cech's move to North London is current Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who was the subject of much ridicule:
"When you hear Arsenal have signed Petr Cech... pic.twitter.com/0LJDzRPbTM

"Szczesny getting some practice at his new job before Cech arrives pic.twitter.com/RgmLigbbIi

To make the deal even more interesting, Cech's debut for the Gunners could be against some very familiar faces:
Suddenly, the Community Shield just got very interesting.
