Indianapolis Colts 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule | Fantasy Football Rankings
The Indianapolis Colts Regular Season Schedule
Last season Peyton Manning started the year slow as he was coming off of knee surgery in the summer. That year he did not play one preseason game and it showed as the offense had a very hard time being efficient like years past.
Some how Manning managed to win another MVP trophy (I would have given it to Michael Turner or Adrian Peterson) as he struggled to be the dominant player we are used to seeing.
This season I would expect him to be much crisper and have a season of around 35 touchdowns as the Colts go back to the playoffs.
Below are three sections of interest that are worth paying attention to for fantasy owners coming into the season for this team. First we have listed our fantasy players which we believe are worth paying attention to this season.
Next is strength of schedule against the run, pass and points against. Lastly we have a few games selected that will be key in telling how this team will preform for the 2009 season.
Fantasy Players
QB.- Peyton Manning
RB.- Joseph Addai
RB.- Donald Brown
WR.-Reggie Wayne
WR.-Anthony Gonzalez
TE.- Dallas Clark
K.- Adam Vinatieri
Strength of Schedule
vs Run Fifth Hardest Schedule
vs Pass Fourth Easiest Schedule
vs Points Given Up Eighth Easiest Schedule
By the strength of schedule above one would have to believe that the Colts will need to lean on Peyton Manning and the passing game this season. With a very favorable schedule to throw against, if Manning should be successful in the air than it should open things up for Addai and Brown in the running game.
The Colts new head coach used to be Peyton's quarterback coach a few years ago and I would expect this team to be aggressive passing with Dungy now gone.
Games of Interest
Weeks One-Four: The first four games of the season we will see if in fact the Colts will be more aggressive this season in the air. In that time Indianapolis will face the Jaguars, Dolphins, Cardinals, and Seahawks and in that time we could see Wayne and Manning have a hot start.
If they do in fact start the year with a bang than this passing attack should be strong for the entire season.
2009 Football Projection
Right now I believe the Colts are going to win this division because they have such a good program and have the best quarterback in the South. As long a Peyton Manning is health the Colts will always be a team to recon with.
