Bangladesh vs. India, 3rd ODI: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info, Preview

Chris BradshawJun 21, 2015

Bangladesh will be looking to complete an unprecedented whitewash over India when the sides meet in the third and final one-day international of the series on Wednesday.

The hosts showed that their recent exploits against Pakistan were no fluke after convincing wins in the first two matches in Mirpur.

Mashrafe Mortaza's side will be hoping for more of the same. Indian skipper MS Dhoni meanwhile has much to ponder.

Overview

After thrashing Pakistan by three games to nil in the ODI series in April, Bangladesh will be hoping to repeat the dose against India.

So often the whipping boys in ODIs, Bangladesh have quietly put together a superb recent record on home soil. Sunday's six-wicket win over their Asian rivals was their 10th successive ODI victory as hosts.

Left-arm seam bowlers are flavour of the month at present, and Bangladesh seem to have found a gem in Mustafizur Rahman.

The 19-year-old picked up five wickets in his ODI debut in the series opener and followed it up by taking six for 43 in the second. The youngster is the first player to take 11 wickets in his first two ODI appearances.

Even when Rahman wasn't taking wickets, the rest of the Bangladeshi attack was keeping a lid on India's powerful batting lineup. As MS Dhoni acknowledged in a post-match interview (per Reuters), “They were bowling really well. Even when they didn't get wickets, they kept it really tight. Once they got two-three wickets in a row, they maintained pressure on us.”

India's top order has failed to fire in either game with only Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan passing 50.

The form of Virat Kohli seems a particular cause for concern. India's Test captain has scored just 38 runs in three visits to the middle during the tour of Bangladesh.

The rest of the Indian top-order is spluttering too with too many batsmen failing to capitalise after getting in. As Dhoni told Reuters, “A few of us got starts but they had to make it big, that's when it really counts." That will have to change if they're to avoid a whitewash on Wednesday.

As former international Sanjay Manjrekar noted, a bit more application from India's batsmen wouldn't go amiss.

On the batting front Ind may have look at someone like K Rahul. At the moment too many flashy batsmen around in ODIs. #BANvIND

There are no such worries for Mashrafe Mortaza's side, as they are oozing confidence. The win on Sunday secured their place in the next Champions Trophy. It's unlikely they'll take their foot off the gas though with another drubbing over a cricketing superpower in their grasp.

Expect the same combination of aggressive batting from Soumya Sarkar and Litton Das and miserly, wicket-to-wicket bowling from an improving attack.

Key Players

Bangladesh

It's hard to look past Mustafizur Rahman who has burst onto the scene in such spectacular fashion. Other bowlers may be quicker, but the youngster's accuracy and changes of pace would have pleased a veteran international performer.

Bangladesh, like England, are reaping the rewards of an aggressive, attacking approach to the game. Nobody personifies that more that Rubel Hossain. Expensive he may be, but he's always looking to take on the opposition batsmen.

India

With scores of 30 and 53, Shikhar Dhawan has tantalised this series. A big innings from the left-hander would go a long way to helping India avoid an embarrassing whitewash.

Exactly the same could be said of Suresh Raina, who has done all the hard work then given it away. That's been the story of the series for India.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been the pick of the Indian bowlers. Expect more good work from the off-spinner, especially if the batsmen give him something to bowl at.

Squads

Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain, Rony Talukdar, Mustafizur Rahman, Litton Das
