Giants Manager Bruce Bochy Left Behind by Team Bus, Has to Take a Cab to Hotel
After leading his team to a 9-5 road victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy found himself in a tough spot.
The team bus had left without him, leaving the Giants manager stranded at the home of the team's biggest rival, Dodger Stadium.
"The bus left me," Bochy said Saturday, per Abbey Mastracco of Fox Sports West. "I thought it was like, 'Leave no troops behind.'"

There stood the three-time World Series-winning manager at Dodger Stadium, looking for a way back to the team hotel. San Francisco shortstop and UCLA alum Brandon Crawford was still at the stadium, as he was not staying at the team hotel, so he offered to give the skipper a ride. Not wanting his player to go out of the way for him, Bochy declined Crawford's offer.
Bochy instead decided to call a cab.
Anyone who has taken a taxi or an Uber ride home from a sporting event knows it's not always smooth sailing. The 60-year-old Bochy had to wait 35 minutes for the cab to show up—and then a few more minutes as the driver tried to find the Giants manager once he got to the stadium.
Bochy was at least able to have a sense of humor about the situation the day after.
"And people think I have a glamorous job," Bochy joked, per Mastracco. "And then I'm standing there outside the ballpark."
Even after a victory, it's never easy being a Giant in Los Angeles.
