US Open Golf 2015: Live Updates for Sunday Leaderboard Scores
The final round of the 2015 U.S. Open is set to unfold on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Chambers Bay Golf Course, where the world's best golfers have endured plenty of trouble trying to navigate the tricky links-style course.
Only eight golfers started Sunday's final round under par, and the four-under leading score suggests that anyone near even has a chance to put together a championship performance if things go their way.
Take a look below at how the leaderboard currently looks:
Of the four names to start Sunday's final round atop the leaderboard, each of them has taken a very different road to get to this same position.
The obvious talk of the course is Jordan Spieth, who has continued his stellar 2015 campaign at Chambers Bay. He's held a share of the lead after both Friday and Saturday, with the opportunity to continue his quest for a grand slam and become just the sixth all-time to win the Masters and U.S. Open back to back.
He's also the only major champion of the four in the lead, and Spieth's recent experience holding onto a lead at Augusta, per ESPN's John Buccigross, should pay dividends:
There's also the big surprise in Branden Grace, a 27-year-old South African who has been turning heads on the professional circuit as of late. He notched a three-under round of 67 from Friday and persevered through a 70 on Saturday to keep a share of the lead.
Then you have Dustin Johnson—whose big-hitting style is getting the return many expected at Chambers Bay. He's faded somewhat after an incredible round of 65 on Thursday, but remains in the hunt.
All of that, however, pales in comparison to one Jason Day.
Day looked to narrowly miss yet another major title opportunity when he collapsed late in his second round Friday, citing vertigo. Folks wondered if he would even attempt to finish his tournament before he came out and shot a round of 68 that marked the second-best score of Saturday.
Needless to say, the storybook is being written for some of the top contenders in the mix for Sunday. It will be up to them over the span of 18 holes to decide how the book will end.
