Rio Ferdinand Tweets on Values of British Players Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling

Mark PattersonJun 20, 2015

Rio Ferdinand has poured scorn on the mooted transfer values of Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.

BBC Sport's Ben Smith reported this week that Liverpool had rejected a £40 million bid for Sterling by Manchester City. Meanwhile, Kane has been linked with a £40 million switch to Manchester United this summer, as reported by the Mirror's David McDonnell.

Ferdinand, who broke the British transfer record with his own £30 million move to Manchester United in 2002, wrote:

"

English players are soooo overpriced right now it's a joke! Kane & sterling have huge potential but 40m & 50m...aguero 38m & sanchez 32m!!!

And it's a feeling many fans will share—how a premium on English players continues to make clubs want to shop abroad.

Is Ferdinand spot-on here?
