Royal Ascot Results 2015: Winners, Payouts, Orders of Finish for Saturday Races

Gianni VerschuerenJun 20, 2015

The 2015 Royal Ascot came to a close on Saturday, as Frankie Dettori rode Undrafted to a win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. The American horse went head-to-head with Brazen Beau in the final furlongs and just managed to beat his opponent in the sprint, in one of the most exciting finishes of this year's event.

Dettori finished the week with three wins, well behind Ryan Moore's nine, the most for any jockey since World War II. The Diamond Jubilee Stakes winner touched on Moore's fantastic achievement, although he was more than happy to win three races of his own, via Channel 4 Racing:

Meanwhile, fans at Ascot were entertained between races as well, and not just by the crazy fashion or the presence of the Royal Family. Huntsmans Close managed to get loose before the start of the Wokingham Stakes and couldn't be caught for a full five minutes, leading to a lot of hilarity on social media. Channel 4 Racing were kind enough to share this photo:

Diamond Jubilee Stakes

2Brazen Beau7-2j£112,875
3Astaire25-1£56,490
4Music Master14-1£28,140

Mustajeeb (7-2j) and Brazen Beau (7-2j) were expected to give each other a tough battle in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, but it was Undrafted (14-1) who ended up going toe-to-toe with the Australian colt, with the 5-year-old from the USA eventually emerging victorious.

As shared by Racing UK, Brazen Beau pushed his rival until the very end, making for an exciting finish:

Undrafted is owned by NFL wide receiver Wes Welker, per Deadspin, and like his owner, he exceeded all expectations on Saturday, battling back from last place to grab the close win. The gelding previously finished third at the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

Welker didn't travel to the United Kingdom and missed out on a unique opportunity to meet the Queen:

Dettori never appeared to panic as his horse was pushed into the back during the early goings of the race, but he later told Channel 4 Racing he had full confidence in her raw speed and acceleration:

Heading into the final furlongs, Dettori moved Undrafted inside and took the lead, and while Brazen Beau came within half a length of the eventual winner, there simply wasn't enough track left to overtake Undrafted.

Queen Alexandra Stakes

1Oriental FoxN/A£37,350
2TawsN/A£11,184
3TeakN/A£5,592
4Wicklow BraveN/A£2,796

Oriental Fox won the final race of the 2015 Royal Ascot, the Queen Alexandra Stakes, with the rain coming down on the Ascot Racecourse. Jockey Moore had a chance to win his 10th race of the week atop Wicklow Brave, but there was no denying Oriental Fox, who exploded inside the final furlongs.

At The Races was impressed:

Teak and Marzocco attempted to stay close to Oriental Fox in the final straight, but as soon as jockey Joe Fanning pushed his colt into gear, the race was over.

Oriental Fox is expected to run at the Northumberland Plate Festival on Saturday, June 27, and given the incredible burst he displayed at Ascot, he will be the favourite to win in Newcastle. Consistency has been an issue for the horse in the past, but his owners should be looking to capitalise on the excellent form he showed on Saturday.

Oriental Fox's win was the perfect end to the 2015 Royal Ascot, which Channel 4 Racing's Jim McGrath described as the "best international meeting" to ever take place in the UK. Ascot remains one of the most iconic events in British racing, along with the Grand National, and fantastic editions like the one we just witnessed will only aid the sport's exposure in Britain.
