Jason Day Collapses at US Open: Updates on Golfer's Status and Return
Jason Day collapsed from dizziness on the No. 9 fairway in the second round of the 2015 U.S. Open. He returned to action for the third round, per The European Tour. The New Zealander impressed on Saturday, shooting a two-under 68 to share the lead in the clubhouse at four under for the tournament, per Sky Sports.
Todd Lewis of the Golf Channel previously reported Day would receive a health evaluation before deciding whether he would play Saturday.
During the second round on June 19, Day was approaching the ninth green when he suddenly became dizzy and fell to the ground. After receiving medical attention, he completed the hole—his last of the day—and headed into the clubhouse.
Will Gray of the Golf Channel passed along a statement from Day's agent saying the golfer has been diagnosed with benign positional vertigo.
