Although Washington Nationals pitcher Doug Fister picked up the loss in his team's 5-3 home defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, his night could have been much worse had he lost something in addition to the game.

Fister, who was making his first start since the middle of May after recovering from a forearm injury, found himself in a tough spot—though not in the typical fashion.

After he threw a changeup to strike out Rays third baseman Evan Longoria in the top of the first inning, Fister's wedding ring fell off his finger.

It's OK to lose a baseball game. It's not OK to lose a wedding ring.

Luckily, the 31-year-old hurler found his ring in the dirt in front of the mound.
