The Jacksonville Jaguars 2009 Regular Season Schedule

Last season the Jaguars took a nose dive from their successful season in 2007 as David Garrard led the team to the playoffs. This year if Jacksonville has any intentions of going to the postseason they will need strong defense and Torry Holt will need to have a bounce back year.

Below are three sections of interest that are worth paying attention to for fantasy owners coming into the season for this team. First we have listed our fantasy players which we believe are worth paying attention to this season.

Next is strength of schedule against the run, pass, and points against. Lastly we have a few games selected that will be key in telling how this team will perform for the 2009 season.

Strength of Schedule

vs. Run Second Easiest Schedule

vs. Pass 10th Easiest Schedule

vs. Points Given Up 12th Easiest Schedule

The Jaguars have by far the easiest schedule on paper in the division as they have a top 12 favorable schedule in the run, pass, and points given up from opposing teams. On the offensive side of the football, Maurice Jones-Drew needs to have a strong season as he will have one of the easiest schedules to run against in football.

While Jones-Drew needs to run the ball it will be the play of David Garrard that should determine if this team can have a winning season in 2009. For David to have success he will need Holt, Walker and Williamson to stay healthy and play consistent football.

Games of Interest

Weeks One-Six: In the first six games of the season, Maurice Jones-Drew will face five matchups that he should be able to take advantage of for fantasy success. If this talented feature back can have a strong start to the season, it will help justify why he is going No. 1 overall in many PPR leagues.

In that time MJD will face the Colts, Cardinals, Texans, Titans, Seahawks, and Rams. This is the kind of stretch that can help your team win a lot of games at the start of the season.

2009 Football Projection

I don't believe the Jaguars will win the division as that title should belong to the Colts this season. But I do believe they will be in the mix for a wild card spot at least until some time in December.

For fantasy football that is what you hope your players teams can do: be in the hunt during the fantasy playoffs weeks.
