No Significant Progress Yet Between Eagles, Bradford

Wednesday, June 17

The Eagles used the offseason to shake up their roster considerably, and that included flipping quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for Bradford, who's due $12.9 million in the final year of his deal, according to Spotrac.com

And while the two sides have entered into contract discussions, according to the NFL Network's Albert Breer, "no real progress" has been made to this point.

At this point, there doesn't appear to be a major rush on the team's part to get a deal done. Considering Bradford is coming off the second ACL tear of his career, the Eagles likely want to gauge how effective he can be in head coach Chip Kelly's uptempo offense.

"2015the final year of his current dealserves as an evaluation period for his candidacy as a viable long-term solution," ESPN.com's Field Yates wrote.

After tearing the ACL in his left knee during the 2014 preseason, Bradford is apparently on track to participate in full by the time the team's training camp comes around.

"I'm very optimistic with Sam in terms of his progress," Kelly said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman. "As I said, he's gotten better every day."

At present, Bradford is participating solely in seven-on-seven drills at minicamp, according to CSN Philly's Geoff Mosher, and has yet to take the field for the 11-on-11 portions of practice.

With plus-arm strength and solid mobility, Bradford projects as a player capable of boosting his stock in an offense that's conducive to stat-padding. And if the 27-year-old is able to post solid numbers with weapons galore, he should be bring more bargaining power to the negotiating table.
