Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: MLB DraftKings Studs and Duds for June 17
Though the New York Mets ended the Blue Jays' season-high 11-game winning streak Tuesday, I'm still all over the Canadian club's position players this Wednesday. Per Baseball-Reference.com, the Jays are scoring 5.5 runs per game. That's nearly a run more per game than any other team and just shy of one-and-a-half runs above league average.
Also according to Baseball-Reference.com, North America's fourth largest metropolitan area is 10-4 this season against lefties and 20-12 at home. Plus, they're likely peeved about the walk-off loss the Metropolitans just handed to them. Beware a double-digit run game in the Rogers Centre.
| Studs | Opp. | Price | Duds | Opp. | Price | |
| David Price | @ Cin | $11,300 | Felix Hernandez | vs. SF | $10,300 | |
| Jordan Zimmermann | vs. TB | $7,600 | Wandy Rodriguez | @ LAD | $6,600 | |
| Ubaldo Jimenez | @ Phi | $7,200 | Jonathon Niese | @ Tor | $6,300 | |
| Jeff Locke | @ CWS | $5,200 | Brett Oberholtzer | @ Col | $5,000 | |
| Joe Blanton | vs. Mil | $4,100 | Kyle Kendrick | vs. Hou | $4,000 |

David Price is...pricey (clever!), but he's coming off back-to-back 41-plus point fantasy games. When he's on, he really deals. Though he will be pitching in a hitter's park in Cincinnati, at least he gets to stare down Johnny Cueto once every nine batters. He should see the slightest of bumps from not facing the DH and pitching against a team that currently ranks 20th in runs per game, according to Baseball-Reference.com.
You should strive to avoid any pitcher throwing at altitude. That's why I've placed both Houston's Brett Oberholtzer and Colorado's Kyle Kendrick on the "duds list." Both the Rockies and the Astros currently rank in the top 11 in runs scored per game.
| Position | Studs | Opp. | Price | Duds | Opp. | Price | |
| C | Russell Martin | vs. NYM | $4,600 | Mike Zunino | vs. SF | $2,800 | |
| 1B | Edwin Encarnacion | vs. NYM | $4,800 | Brandon Belt | @ Sea | $3,400 | |
| 2B | Luis Valbuena | @ Col | $4,000 | Brandon Phillips | vs. Det | $3,500 | |
| 3B | Alex Rodriguez | vs. Mia | $4,000 | Kyle Seager | vs. SF | $3,900 | |
| SS | Troy Tulowitzki | vs. Hou | $5,000 | Brandon Crawford | @ Sea | $3,500 | |
| OF | Giancarlo Stanton | @ NYY | $5,500 | Justin Upton | @ Oak | $4,400 | |
| OF | Billy Burns | vs. SD | $3,800 | Billy Hamilton | vs. Det | $4,100 | |
| OF | Kevin Pillar | vs. NYM | $3,700 | Angel Pagan | vs. Sea | $2,800 |

With five of the league's more famous pitching studs going today, it's not difficult to find hitters to avoid. King Felix was terrible in his last start, and Madison Bumgarner is coming off a home loss. But I'm staying away from any position players who will be stepping up to the plate in the Pacific Northwest Wednesday night.
I also encourage starting zero Rangers against reigning Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. It's been a "down year," but he's still pretty good. Per DraftKings, he's averaged just over 30 fantasy points and nine strikeouts per start in his last six outings.
Despite a penchant for runs in the bandbox located just north of the Ohio River, I'm also weary of those taking the plate in Cincinnati. David Price and Johnny Cueto are likely to get caught in an old-fashioned pitcher's duel.
Though Russell Martin has had back-to-back zero fantasy point outings (he only took one pinch-hit at-bat on Monday), I still trust him at home. According to DraftKings, before those five plate appearances on Monday and Tuesday, Martin had double-digit fantasy days in five straight games and averaged almost 18 fantasy points per game during that stretch.
Per FanGraphs, Martin is enjoying his most powerful offensive season of his career. His OPS+ is 143, and his slugging percentage is over .500 for the first time in his 10-year career.
