Alex Rodriguez Looking to Become 29th Member of 3,000-Hit Club
After recording the 2,000th and 2,001st RBI of his career over the weekend, New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez enters the week in search of his next milestone, needing just five more hits to become the 29th official member of the 3,000-hit club.
In addition to making him just the second player to officially record 2,000 career RBI, Rodriguez's two-run homer in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles gave him 2,995 hits for his career.
Following a hitless performance in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Orioles, Rodriguez will likely have to wait a couple of games before looking to reach 3,000. According to Wallace Matthews of ESPN.com, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he will probably give A-Rod give the next couple of days off as the team travels to Florida for a two-game road series against the Miami Marlins starting Monday.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Having spent much of his childhood in the Miami area, the 39-year-old slugger would surely like to set the record close to home, but it appears that won't happen.
Following games in Miami on Monday and Tuesday, the Marlins and Yankees will head to the Bronx for another two-game series Wednesday and Thursday.
After that, the Yankees will host the Detroit Tigers for a three-game series Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
