Agent: 'A Lot of Interest' in Mathis
Sunday, June 14
Mathis' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said in an interview on the Joe Rose Show (via CBS Miami) that many teams have shown an interest in his client.
"Now it’s wide open and there’s a lot of interest in Evan," Rosenhaus said. "Between now and the start of training camp I definitely expect him to have a new home. I think we’ll be methodical. We won’t necessarily rush into signing immediately."
Rosenhaus also added that "at least half a dozen teams" have contacted him about Mathis. The 33-year-old guard was released by the Eagles on Thursday after the two sides went through a very public feud regarding his contract.
Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus called Mathis "the best guard in football" on Twitter after his release became official.
Given the number of teams that need help on the offensive line, as well as how highly regarded Mathis' play on the field has been in four years with Philadelphia, it shouldn't take long for him to find a new home.
