David Wilson, Ex-Giants RB, Struggles in Triple Jump at Adidas Grand Prix
Former New York Giants running back David Wilson made his competitive debut in the triple jump Saturday at the Adidas Grand Prix, and the results were a bit mixed.
According to ESPN.com, Wilson managed 48 feet, 1 1/4 inches, which was roughly five feet worse than his personal best dating back to his college days. He finished ninth out of the nine triple-jumpers to participate.
Wilson admitted on Twitter that he's disappointed with the result but won't get too down since it's only his first pro event:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The 23-year-old retired from the NFL last summer after suffering a neck injury. Doctors advised against him continuing to play football.
Shortly after walking away from the game, Wilson made public his desire to start a career in track and field.
"I'll be going back to school to get my degree and training for the Olympics," he said last August, per For The Win's Chris Strauss. "That's something I really want to aspire to do now. I was the national champion twice in high school junior and senior year and was an All-American in college [at Virginia Tech]."
Saturday was a bit of a setback, but nobody could've expected Wilson to immediately assert himself as one of the best triple-jumpers in the country already. While he was always considered a great athlete, mastering any track event takes a ton of practice and preparation.
Wilson will give the triple jump another go Sunday, so he might be able to redeem himself a bit before the weekend concludes.
