Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sam, the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL, headed up north in May after being waived by the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys last year. His performance at the NFL Veteran Combine also failed to attract interest.
As a result, Sam inked a one-year deal with Montreal that had a team option for 2016.
"I'm just here to play football," he said at the time, according to Greg A. Bedard of MMQB. "I'm not trying to do anything historic, just trying to help the team win games."
Sam, a defensive end out of Missouri, was a consensus All-American and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in 2014.
